Privacy notice

This explains what I do with anything you give me through this website, why, how long I keep it, and what you can ask me to do about it. Last updated 20 October 2026.

Who is responsible

GAIN Intelligence (Richard Everard), Rome, Italy. I am the data controller, which means the decisions about your information are mine, and so is the responsibility for them. GAIN Intelligence is one person. Your data is never sold, and it is never shared with anyone except the services listed below, which handle it only on my instructions.

Contact: admin@gain-intelligence.com

The survey

The survey is anonymous. I store your answers to the three questions, anything you write in the optional "Why?" box, the date you answered, and whether you reached the survey through the link in my LinkedIn post. I do not store your name, your email address, the time you answered, your IP address or any cookie with your answers.

I use the answers to work out the overall results and to share them. If something you write in the "Why?" box could identify you or anyone else, I will not quote it.

Because the answers are anonymous, they are not linked to you in any way I can use. I keep them for one year after the results are published, and then delete them.

The email list

If you choose to leave your email address on the thank-you page, I store it with the date and the exact wording you agreed to. It is kept separately from the survey answers, and nothing connects the two.

I use it only to send you the results of the survey and occasional leadership-related articles, because you asked me to. That consent is the legal basis. I do not sell your address, share it, or use it for anything else.

You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing admin@gain-intelligence.com. I remove you as soon as I can, and within a month at the latest. I keep your address until you unsubscribe.

You can also ask me to show you, correct or delete the email address I hold, by emailing admin@gain-intelligence.com.

The contact form

If you write to me through the contact form, I receive your name, email address and message, and your organisation and phone number if you choose to give them. The form sends them to me as an email. Neither the website nor the service behind the form keeps a copy.

I use them only to reply to you and, if you ask, to talk about working together. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering messages people send me, and, where you are asking about working together, taking the steps you asked for before any agreement.

The email stays in my mailbox while we are in contact. I delete it within two years of our last exchange, unless we go on to work together, when the platform's own notice applies.

The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a message comes from a person rather than a program. To do this, Turnstile reads technical details from your browser, including your IP address.

Technical logs

Like any website, the servers that run this site and the survey keep routine technical logs, which can include your IP address. These are held by the hosting companies under their own retention rules. I do not use them, and they are never joined to your answers. To stop the survey and the contact form being flooded by automated submissions, the service behind them counts recent submissions from each address in its memory for one hour. That count is never written down.

This website sets no cookies and uses no tracking or advertising tools.

Who else handles it

A small number of companies run the services I use. They hold data on my instructions and may not use it for anything else.

Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where that applies, the transfer is covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

If I get it wrong

Tell me first and I will put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (gpdp.it), or to the authority in the country where you live or work.

Changes

If I change this notice, the date at the top changes with it.
